While Punch is known for using a variety of tobaccos from several different nations for their Clasico cigars, with the Gran Puro series they went in the opposite direction, creating a relatively rare Honduran puro.
This means that all components of the Gran Puro – wrapper, binder, and filler – are from a single country, making this blend an excellent showcase for Honduran tobacco. This ‘showcase’ has caught the attention of Cigar Aficionado magazine multiple times, as they have placed the Gran Puro Santa Rita on their top 25 list in both 2012 and 2016.
The Santa Rita is a compact “Rothschild” size that smokes for a tidy 45 minutes. The flavour is primarily nutty with some cedar wood and cocoa notes as well.
